They want to see you excel in your career (through them, of course) just as much as you do! Make sure that whatever you decide to spend your time and/or money on is actually going to increase your chances of getting the job you want. Another suggestion is to network, both in person and online (ex: www.linkedin.com)! Always be actively talking with people about their work, especially in a social event.
