Resume Writing Advice

Completed first draft of resume on HotJobs and attempted to upload. Received message that the file was too big and would have to either be edited down or "uploaded in a different way." I began to edit down as I had no way of knowing what "uploaded in a different way" meant. I did not finish downsizing, The following day I began to receive a number of emails referring to "having seen my resume on line." (Have not worked with any other online employment sites, so "whatever was seen," has to be related to HotJobs.) I returned to the first page where the url for my resume is posted. In clicking on that url, I received a message stating that the resume could not be found in the database.

Now I’m left with "something" in the way of a resume that has "somehow" been posted on HotJobs, even though I was told that the file was too big to upload and on clicking the url, I receive that message stating that the resume is not in the database.

Can anyone resolve this mystery? I really need to get the correct resume up and running. Last question; if one edits their resume after it has been posted, is the resume automatically changed on line or does one have to upload again? Thx so much for your efforts.
