6. He promised free elections, but he never actually did them. Not sure what he did by 1948.
7. The Marshall Plan was when the US gave money to European countries in need. The purpose was to rebuild war-torn Europe.
8.Germany became divided due to the disputes between the Allies and the USSR. I believe the government was a democracy in the west and communist in the east.
9. The purpose was to get around the blockade the USSR put up in an attempt to get the US and allies out of Berlin.
10. It was a nuclear arms race between the US and the USSR.
11. Argh, can’t remember.
