    Not very.

    Some people are good at writing cover letters and get into the job relatively easily

    Resumes often contain exaggerations of what people know and the skills they are bringing to the job. A friend of ours used to get more offers because of his resume than most people we know, but he seldom got the promotions that he could have.

    Interviews are probably the best way of making decisions about people and what they might achieve, but most interviews are too short, and don’t bring out the weaknesses that people have.
