offshore jobs locations?
I was wondering if i wanted to work an offshore job on an oil rig will i have to live in the facinity of the oil rig. Like if i wanted to work of the coast of Texas will i have to live in texas or can i live anywhere and just fly during my on time .
vicinity (not facinity)
I work on an oil rig in the Gulf of Mexico. I can say that it really depends on what job you want (what company). Some companies let you live anywhere you choose. I am at work right now off the coast of Louisiana and I am out here with guys from Texas, Mississippi, Alabama, Arkansas. I’ve worked with people from Utah, Pennsylvania. I’ve even worked with guys from Africa and East Europe. It all depends on the company.
If you lived too far to drive, you would be responsible for your airfare. Some companies reimburse you the cost or pay you for your travel time.
Hit me up in email if you have any more questions.

The vast majority of contractors running offshore rigs aren’t concerned about where you live, simply that you get to the rig when your hitch starts; one of the reasons so many stick with this type of work \ lifestyle is that it affords them the opportunity to live wherever they want to, as they have 2-4 weeks off between hitches. There are many offshore workers that live in any part of the country, and just have a multi-state drive once a month to get to the debarkation point for the rig.
