Does anyone have any good job hunting tips for a teen?
hello everyone! I am a 16 year-old girl who is looking for her first job. I want to know if there are any good tips in looking for a job or maybe Interview Tips. I am very good with people and solving problems. I have applied for a few jobs ( a local camp ground, 2 grocery stores, a restaurant, and even McDonalds) but no luck! i know it is a bad economy, but there have to be some ways to get a job!
Along with showing your professional capabilities (dress nicely, be clean)
And your social ones (shake hands, smile, be polite, don’t be nervous)
Show that you’re prepared (know your information, have references etc. on hand)
And responsible (go Job Hunting by yourself, bring your own pen just in case)
Keep in mind answers to questions that the manager may ask you when handing in your application.
What 5 words would you use to describe yourself?
Why did you pick this business?
How would you be an asset to my team?
Keep in mind that the economy IS pretty horrible right now.
I applied to 30+ businesses and went through 4 interviews before getting my first job a year ago.
Don’t be close minded to seasonal work, right now acquiring a summer job would be enough to give you the upper-hand of experience and make that second, more permanent job much easier to obtain.
Good luck (:

You should try to get a job at a Hawaiian Falls or Hurricane Harbor. They are always looking for lifeguards and most of the time will pay for your training.

in your interview don’t act like you are going to get a job to flip burgers(or whatever the case is), act like you are interviewing for your dream job….
so dress really nice and be very polite… things like that.
hope that helps:)

Look for companies that actually need people.
Look through your newspaper’s classified ads under employment.
Go in person to apply for the job.
Be prepared with your references and other detailed information so you have everything ready to fill out the application.
When you fill out the application, ask for the manager.
Shake his/her hand and tell give them a compliment on the store and mention that you would like to be part of this team.
Two things this will show:
1. You have realiable transportation and don’t have to be driven to the job.
2. You can actually read and write and have good penmanship – you’d be surprised how many people can’t do this.
3. The manager will get to know you and see your enthusiasm for a job.
