Do you love your career/job?
How did I get so lucky? I love my job which will eventually become my career. Right now it’s a job because I don’t have the position I want. Just the atmosphere of my job and the people I get to see on a daily basis gives me a smile. I am working in the field/industry that my hearts passion is for. I know its only a matter of time til I reach my goal. I am at work right now and I just came to the realization that this is the best place ever. I am so happy here. Very few people get to do and experiance the things that I do. I feel very privileged. Life is great. I’ve been able to meet all the people I’ve looked up to for years and go to very private parties that I’ve only dreamed of.
Is anyone else as passionate or love their job/career as much as I do?
FYI, I’m only 20 and I am still in college with two jobs. One that is my passion and the other is one that I am licensed and certified to do and I really don’t like it there. The only reason why I took the job is because it pays very well and I don’t want to work a minimum wage job. I don’t hate it, it’s the easiest job ever but the thing is that it stresses me out because alot of my coworkers do not work to their ability and the workload gets shifted to me and the others who go above and beyond. I know that that job is not for me long term but its helping me save and supporting me while I work toward my passion. It’s funny how the job I love pays me decent but not great, and the job I’d love to quit pays me very well, well enough where I don’t want to quit
I own my own company and yes, I love doing the kind of work that I do. Chances are that the people you meet and the parties that you attend, might very well be the same circle of friends that I associate with and do business with daily, afterall, it is a small world!

nope. I have a background in PR & Graphic design. I got layed off from my first job out of college at the Circuit City corporate offices (which really didn’t make me feel too bad about my own skills cuz they got rid of the entire department, and another 3000 employees around the country – it was just sad in itself)…which wasn’t really my thing either but it was in my background.
Now I’m in clinical research for Philip Morris – completely not in my industry. I smell seond hand smoke most of the time – from study participants, and from my co-workers cuz you’re allowed to smoke in your offices, at meetings, in the cafetria, everywhere. Don’t really care too much for the people, just a bunch of grungy smokers who want to make everyone die at an early age too. Although, the people in my department are nice. I’m the youngest one in my position, and I supervise older people, so I think they feel funny about that.
But hey, a career with Philip Morris looks good on my resume, much better than circuit city. I try to make the most of it. i’m only 22, have a corner office, supervise a team of 3, and make decent money. Other’s my age are probably still in school, living on their parents couch, pregnant, or just plain losers. So, yeah….

When I was healthy enough, for a while, yes. Very much so.
It all changed though because the business expanded, and production demands increased. Instead of putting more people on the job, the machine speeds were turned way up, overtime became mandatory, and we all saw the quality decline in the product. Faster, harder, longer.
Around the seasonal holidays, there is no joy in any of the workers…it just means more work. People don’t get to see their families. Divorces increased. Unhappy people do poor work.
Money is a poor substitute for having a life.
But before the corporate greed, it was the greatest place to be. You went in, did your best, put out a great product, and went home feeling like you did something worthwhile.
Paid slavery is what happens when business does not care about their employees.
