What university courses should i take to become a teacher?
I am 26, live in Toronto, Ontario Canada and am thinking about going to school to become a teacher. My high school grades weren’t that good. What courses should i take to become a teacher? I’m looking to teach grades 7 or 8 and below.
Look for teaching colleges…the first few years are regular undergrad stuff…last few years will be mostly courses related to education…

The school you’re interested in attending will most likely have a program for teachers. You need to talk to a counselor so they can direct your path. If you’re looking to teach 7-8th grade, you will need to study a certain subject and then get a credential to teach secondary grades.

Most colleges will also have the information you need. But in addition to your general education classes at college there are several other classes based on education you have to take. For teaching elementary you take a certain set of classes, and to teach secondary level you have to focus on a subject and take classes in that subject and some other education related classes.
The classes are usually something like educational psychology, classes about teaching and using technology and educational law classes.
For elementary there are more education classes based on child development and less subject-specific classes. In secondary there are more subject-specific classes and less educational development classes.
But I’d look at the college you want to go to and they should have an educational department that can send you a catalogue.

The facts that 1) your grades weren’t that great in high school, and 2) you actually ask this on Yahoo instead of maybe calling a university or college or looking up a website make you more than qualified to be a teacher in this day and age. I would simply walk to the nearest middle school and demand a job.
