What do you think of Obama’s plan to fully fund the higher education of those who become teachers?
This would include full tuition, books, and a monthly stipend. How do we, the taxpayers fund such an ambitious undertaking?
Troy B, uh no . . . I did NOT have my college education paid for, plus money to live on each month. I worked, took out loans and then I even paid them back!

He would rather cut spending on things that are important and start spending it on people who probably don’t want a higher education than college. Our education system is flawed enough. We don’t need the government getting in the way any more than it is already it. Big government gives the government more and more control and more and more of our freedoms get taken away. He means well, but duing a time of economic depression, we really don’t need higher taxes to pay for education that people don’t want or need. I don’t think I need to pay for anyone’s higher education when I already pay taxes on schooling in my district. It’s too much money and most people just don’t have the money for things like that anymore. Simple as that. Once again, he is inexperienced and doesn’t understand the economy. It’s been shining through, and maybe people are finally seeing it.
Troy B: no — I attended private school so I did not benefit from free education. It was the choice of my parents, so no it was not my choice.

I like it. What I hope is that it’ll create a surplus of teachers, so that for the first time, schools can select only the best instead of being forced to hire everyone who applies simply because there aren’t enough applicants to fill all the positions.

My guess is the number of people wanting to become teachers will be greater than the number who actually do once they get their free education.

I would personally rather pay a few extra dollars a year then continue to live in a country where our education is failing in almost all areas

Those who value education will see the sense. If there aren’t enough teachers to properly teach – then our young people suffer. If teachers can’t be educated to meet certain standards then many more school leavers are likely to end up on welfare – which costs even more money in the long run.

Obama will throw money at all his cronies. After all, hasn’t he even endorsed affirmative action preferences to a sizable population of whites too?
