i want to become a special needs teacher ?

well i want to be a teacher for like the special needs kids like in high school or middle school but i dont know how to really go about doing it all, do i need to go to a university and get a bachelors degree in education then go to like a teaching program or do i just take a test and i get my teaching credentials i live in california in san diego im tottaly lost and sorry if i made any mistakes im on mt cell phone ?

You need to get a BA or BS first. You could get it in a variety of fields, though Special Education would make it easier for you in the long run.

Once you get the BA then you enroll in a credential program. When enrolled you can start teaching while you complete your credential. Or if you want you can just take classes and teach afterwards but why do that when you can get paid?

There are two types of Special Ed programs: Mild to Moderate and Moderate to Severe. Most district programs have the first ones and the county and private programs have the second one. So you will need to know which type of student you would prefer to work with.
