The issue is that I’ve just noticed two capitalization errors in the Microsoft Word format.

How likely will my resume be considered after such typing errors?
The E in my first name was capitolized in the heading of my cover letter, but not in the heading of the resume.

Under "Proffesional Highlights", the very first bulliten contains an uncapitalized "o" in the first word of the sentence, i.e. "over two years experience in switchboard operating."
I apologize for my spelling, I assure you however, that no words were mispelled on my resume.

It won’t even be looked at. nowadays computers scan for keywords, then they are forwarded. if there are any typos at all it is thrown into the trash.

Your cover letter should be on normal letter-size paper, which, as you know, is slightly larger than an 8×10 headshot. You can enclose a resume on letter-size paper, but many people prefer that you trim your resume to fit and staple or tape it to the back of your photo.

I am a 25 year old stay at home mother. I am currently looking into jobs now that my kids’ are a little older. And I’ve found some excellent jobs that in time will allow me to work at home. Which is wonderful considering that I have 4 kids’ and two of which have mental disability’s. But, I have a HUGE problem. Even though I know a lot about computers, sales, business management, etc. I’m afraid that since I have been out of the work force since I became a mother at 19 that I am at a slight disadvantage. I’ve learned a lot from home while I’ve been raising my kids’. And I was wondering how I would be able to write the "perfect" resume for me. Should I put what I’ve learned while on my "time off" and how should I write it to ensure that the employers take me serious and see that I am qualified? And does anybody know of any websites that show me examples of written resumes?

this is a tough situation for you… you KNOW you can do the job they want, but you have no tangible references.

step1: figure out what you would say to them face to face to convince them that you are what they want!

step2: put that in resume form (extra curriculars, awards, list raising kids in your job list, etc… whatever it takes). if you can’t figure out how to get it down in a nicely formatted resume – put it in the cover letter!

step3: organize the resume so that the answers to any criticisms they may have are placed at the top – where they’ll read it first, and that will tear any defenses down so they can read the rest of your credentials unbiased.

here’s a software programmer’s resume:
http://www.dudziak.com/resume.php

feel free to steal style/wording/etc anything you can that you think will help you!

good luck!

>
> ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
>
> Rob is a commercial saturation diver for Global Divers in Louisiana …
> He performs underwater repairs on offshore drilling rigs.
>
> Below is an E-mail he sent to his sister. She then sent it to radio
> station 103.2 on FM dial in Ft. Wayne , Indiana , who was sponsoring a
> worst job experience contest. She won.
>
> Hi Sue,
>
> Just another note from your bottom-dwelling brother.
>
> Last week I had a bad day at the office. I know you’ve been feeling
> down lately at work, so I thought I would share my dilemma with you
> to make you realize it’s not so bad after all
>
> Before I can tell you what happened to me, I first must bore you with
> a few technicalities of my job.
>
> A s you know, my office lies at the bottom of the sea. I wear a suit
> to the office. It’s a wet suit. This time of year the water is quite
> cool. So what we do to keep warm is this: We have a diesel powered
> industrial water heater. This $20,000 piece of equipment sucks the
> water out of the sea. It heats it to a delightful temperature.
>
> It then pumps it down to the diver through a garden hose, which is
> taped to the air hose. Now this sounds like a darn good plan, and I’ve
> used it several times with no complaints.
>
> What I do, when I get to the bottom and start working, is take the hose
> and stuff it down the back of my wet suit. This floods my whole suit
> with warm water. It’s like working in a Jacuzzi.
>
> Everything was going well until all of a sudden, my butt started to
> itch. So, of course, I scratched it. This only made things worse.
> Within a few seconds my butt started to burn. I pulled the hose out
> from my back, but the damage was done . In agony I realized what had
> happened.
>
> The hot water machine had sucked up a jellyfish and pumped it into my
> suit. Now, since I don’t have any hair on my back, the jellyfish
> couldn’t stick to it. However, the crack of my butt was not as
> fortunate.
>
> When I scratched what I thought was an itch, I was actually grinding
> the jellyfish into the crack of my butt.
>
> I informed the dive supervisor of my dilemma over the communicator.
> His instructions were unclear due to the fact that he, along with five
> other divers, were all laughing hysterically.
>
> Needless to say I aborted the dive. I was instructed to make three
> agonizing in-water decompression stops totaling thirty-five minutes
> before I could reach the surface to begin my chamber dry decompression.
> When I arrived at the surface, I was wearing nothing but my brass helmet.
>
> As I climbed out of the water, the medic, with tears of laughter running
> down
> his face, handed me a tube of cream and told me to rub it on my
> butt as soon as I got in the chamber.
>
> The cream put the fire out, but I couldn’t poop for two days because
> my butt was swollen shut.
>
> So, next time you’re having a bad day at work, think about how much
> worse it would be if you had a jellyfish shoved up your butt.
>
> Now repeat to yourself, ‘I love my job, I love my job, I love my job.’
>
> Now whenever you have a bad day, ask yourself, is this a jellyfish bad day?
>
> May you NEVER have a jellyfish bad day!!!

Ha!!!
I love my job..
WOW… that WOULD suck!!

Do many people try different jobs before they find the perfect one? Do you know any people who already knew exactly what they wanted to work as soon as they finished college?

I know a few people whose parents decided that they were going to be whatever and for whatever reasons they followed along and about 40 they rebelled and did what they wanted to do.

Then again I know people who always knew what they wanted to do with their career and are perfectly happy in their chosen field.

I’ve also had friends who stumbled into a career that they wouldn’t have ever thought of doing.

I always loved writing and eventually stumbled into freelance writing even though I have a teaching degree. Helped me design a curriculum for disabled people and self-esteem.

I think you have to know what you like to do and not just do it for the money or the fame but because you’re passionate about it and you’d secretly do it for free but you don’t tell people that.

Good first effort. I would use Google to find some examples for the formatting (Yahoo Answers doesn’t allow you to post formatted text)
I am not sure what "Ontario Sim" is, but if it is your social insurance number, I would not include that on a resume since it makes life easier for identity thieves. The social insurance number is usually disclosed only after you are hired. Also check grammar and spelling ("I’ve been involveD in A "Peer Tutor" Program"…)

it depends say u start your own business its going to start small so would make enough money to get by but over time and if your successful it’ll grow big you need experience to bring the big dough and if you work at a 5 star restaurant or such u will make a lot of money perhaps 45k+ a year but I’m guessing that’s new york
