How do I choose a career and college for myself?

Im a sophomore in high school. The year is flying by so fast, and before i know junior year is gonna be here and so will the time to apply for college. I have no clue what I want to do or where i want to go. Any advice for what I should do to start figuring that out? Im not asking for what you think i should do and where i should go, i want advice on how I could figure that out myself. Please help! :]

It’s not unusual to not know what you want to do with the rest of your life. You can ask your school counselor for a test you can take to help you identify your interests and suggest possible majors and careers you might pursue.

But in the end, you just have to take your best guess and go from there. Many people start college thinking they want to do one thing, then change their majors at some point. Others graduate and then decide to do something else that has nothing to do with their degree. Some people work in their chosen field for a while and then decide to do something else. They may even go back to school.

My point is that you don’t have to decide right now. There’s plenty of time to figure it out, to change your mind, and to start over. Relax.

BTW, some of your classmates may seem pretty sure about what they want to do with the rest of their lives, but even they will likely end up doing something else.
