Has anyone else had issues with Yahoo Hotjobs displaying Resumes incorrectly?

My Resume goes on properly, but as the final result…it spreads some of my text (objective and cities of jobs that I’ve had) in totally separate areas waaaay across the page. Everything else displays the way it should. Anyone else having this trouble?

It happened to me too. Lasted several days before it cleared up.

Are the listing on Yahoo HotJobs safe?

I just want to be safe in doing this, I posted my resume on there, gave it to 2 companies, the other I don’t think has replied, but the second one has, it was a part time bartender job, they gave me a number to call them back, it was a 1-877 number.

would you think it was safe or a scam, should I call them or what?

now I don’t think I have gotten that message before, so I’m curious.

I believe them to be safe but you know how the scammers are. They will always try to get around any safeguard that is put into place. OR, maybe this is something new that Yahoo has initiated to protect themselves from complaints.

Does the business you applied for have a listed phone number? Is it at a physical address that you are familiar with? Look in the yellow pages and call their listed number and ask them if they have a posting on Hotjobs. Explain to them that you are just trying to protect yourself. They’ll understand.

Are there any legit resume posting sites for local jobs in Atlanta, GA?

Yeah, yeah…I know all about Monster.com, Careerbuilder.com and Yahoo Hotjobs.

What other sites let me upload a Resume? Half of the "sites" I’ve tried didn’t even get one resume view, whereas the legit sites like Monster, Careerbuilder, etc. get tons.

Are there any other popular, legit sites like that?

odesk.com allows you to pick up extra money. It’s freelance stuff. I use this.

I already have a resume posted on Yahoo! hotjobs & on Monster, but I’m not having any luck. What am I doing wrong?

It is difficult to go back into the workforce after staying home – I know, because I’ve been there. I found part-time work first – then I got two part time jobs – - then one job (after I worked there a while) hired me on full time so I could scale back to one job. I don’t know what type of education or work background you have but make sure your skills are up to date. Do some research about current trends in your area of expertise and network with family and friends letting them know you are looking for employment – networking is a great way to get a job, too.
I’d avoid posting your resume and expecting to get results in this economy – and I also think posting a resume allows too many unsavory people access to your information. Apply for jobs you want directly to the source. Make sure your resume and any application materials are well formatted and error free.

HotJobs will not allow me to resubmit a resume…why?

when i do searches, i see jobs that i have submitted to previously…(like a month or 2 ago)…but that job has been re-listed, BUT hotjobs does not provide me a link to submit my resume…HOW can i get that ‘reset’ from yahoo…or can i?

You can only apply to a listing one time. This keeps recruiters from seeing the same candidates over and over again.

temporary or permanent, hourly or salaried, i just need to find a job. i have applied to EVERY employment (temp) agency in my city, and i have my resume on careerbuilder.com, yahoo hotjobs, monster.com, jobbing.com (local)…im constantly networking with friends and family to see if they know of anything that becomes available and is suited to me. any other ideas of where i can apply? or where i can find companies to apply to?

Another way that is still the best way, is to either go to company to company, or open up the yellow pages, and call each company individually and make a blurb like:

Hi my name is ______ I would like to speak to the manager please. As soon as the manager comes on, say I am calling you about possible job opportunities that may come up with your company. Also be sure to give a small blurb about your experience.

Only about 10% of the jobs are ever advertised. All of the population is going for those 10% of jobs. Most people will not go and walk into companies, or spending time to call the companies, they will either just send an email that could easily be deleted, or sent on line, where it will just go into that huge pile with the rest of the applications.

I wrote a resume first person view explaning what I did and all like their silly example

and it didnt work even though I was way more qualify than my competitor. I asked why and I was told my resume wasnt as Clear and to the point as the next person.

I have a bachelors degree and I am in the IL Army National Guard. I apply everyplace. I fill out applications. Email my resume, snail mail my resume, drop it off in person, call places, ECT. What is wrong with me?

Nothing. I recently was looking for employment and applied online through Monster.com. I received quite a few phone calls and emails and a couple of interviews. But when it came right down to it I got a job from a freind who referred me to someone that was looking. I think alot of companies hire people either they know or were referred by someone they know.

I’ve been unemployed for a while and I think my two issues are
1. My resume stinks
2. I don’t interview well.

I clicked on your hot link and it says your resume no longer exists. The resume is the "foot in the door" process. Make sure its updated and grammatically correct, and without mis-spelled words. Don’t wholly depend on spell check.

sell yourself on the interview process. I, too, am not good in an interview, but I can do some things much better than any one else in this world and you must make sure the interviewers understand this and understand it thoroughly.
