what are the best wilderness therapy programs to build self-esteem?

there is no addiction or substance issue. This is for an 18 year old female.

Outward Bound has been doing this for decades now, all kinds of programs, and they help access scholarships & credit applied to school & college. www.outwardbound.org

There’s also a Wilderness Inquiry Program based out of Minnesota my brother worked for.

They both have different programs for different needs, single gender, families, youth at risk, etc.

Being 18, it’s more likely that you. or this person, may end up with adults, but check it out. Go with a program that has been well-established for many years. You don’t necessarily go to their home base site, they go all over the country and you meet them at a spot near where the adventure takes place, so don’t let their headquarters location put you off.

For a tighter budget and less time, Appalachian Mountain Club takes groups to clear trails, etc along the East coast. Look them up, they may have other programs to offer also. www.outdoors.org

They’ve been around a while also. Don’t know if it’s wilderness therapy or just an adventure. I’d start with the first two mentioned.

Outstanding experience – had me repelling off of cliffs by the age of 12, teaches trust & teamwork skills that you’ll never forget.

Good luck.
